Segmentation of conifer tree crowns from terrestrial laser scanning point clouds in mixed stands of Scots pine and Norway spruce

چکیده

Abstract Terrestrial laser scanning of conifer tree crowns is challenged by occlusion problems causing sparse point clouds for many trees. Automatic segmentation from a task that has only recently been addressed and not solved in way all trees can be segmented automatically without assignment errors. We developed new algorithm based on region growing seeds voxelized 3D clouds. In our data, field measured positions diameters were available as input data to estimate crown cores the growing. other applications, these derived cloud. Boron retranslocation in Scots pine and Norway spruce.

We previously traced 10B-enriched boric acid from shoots to roots to demonstrate the translocation of boron (B) in Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) seedlings. To gain a more detailed understanding of B translocation, we sought: (1) to demonstrate B retranslocation directly, by showing that foliar-applied 10B is located in the new growth after dormancy...

Uav-based Photogrammetric Point Clouds - Tree Stem Mapping in Open Stands in Comparison to Terrestrial Laser Scanner Point Clouds

In both ecology and forestry, there is a high demand for structural information of forest stands. Forest structures, due to their heterogeneity and density, are often difficult to assess. Hence, a variety of technologies are being applied to account for this ”difficult to come by” information. Common techniques are aerial images or groundand airborne-Lidar. In the present study we evaluate the ...

Dissolved organic carbon and nitrogen leaching from Scots pine, Norway spruce and silver birch stands in southern Sweden

The effects of three common tree species – Scots pine, Norway spruce and silver birch – on leaching of dissolved organic carbon and dissolved nitrogen were studied in an experimental forest with podzolised soils in southern Sweden. We analyzed soil water collected with lysimeters and modeled water fluxes to estimate dissolved C and N fluxes. Specific UV absorbance (SUVA) was analyzed to get inf...

Ectomycorrhizal root tips in relation to site and stand characteristics in Norway spruce and Scots pine stands in boreal forests.

Variations in ectomycorrhizal (EcM) short root tips of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) in 16 stands throughout Finland were studied, and their relationships with latitude, organic layer C:N ratio, temperature sum and foliage biomass were determined. There were no significant differences in EcM root tip frequency (number per milligram of fine roots) o...
